Afghan-Turkmen political consultations to be held

Political consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan will be held July 27-28 in Kabul, said a statement from Turkmen government.

Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov will head the country’s delegation.

Turkmenistan previously expressed readiness to offer its political space for holding inter-Afghan peace dialogue under the auspices of the UN and to actively participate in working out new political and diplomatic mechanisms of resolving this issue.

The remarks were made during the meeting of Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov with special representative of Afghanistan’s president for CIS states Mohammad Shaker Kargar.

During that meeting, Berdimuhammadov emphasized his country’s interest in sustainable development of Afghanistan.

Turkmenistan renders real assistance to Afghanistan by supplying electricity and liquefied gas on preferential terms, constructing industrial and social facilities, regularly sending humanitarian aid to the population in border regions, said the statement. .
