Five passengers killed in Takhar bus crash

Five people were killed after a passenger bus ran off road and overturned in Afghanistan’s northern Takhar province on Saturday, an official said.

The incident occurred in Bagh-e-Zakhira area of Kalafgan district. The bus had departed capital Kabul with its destination being Badakhshan province, which is adjacent to Takhar province, said Jawad Hijri, a spokesman for Takhar governor.

Five people who were killed incident included two children, two women and one man, he said.

Several others were wounded in the crash, according to the official.

The cause of the incident was not immediately clear, but officials usually blame drivers’ negligence.
