At least 14 militants killed in Taliban, Daesh infighting in Nangarhar

Infighting has once again erupted between Taliban and loyalists of the Islamic State (IS) or Daesh in Achin district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Wednesday.

Colonel Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal said the clash broke out in Karkani area late Tuesday leaving nine fighters of Daesh and five Taliban killed. Those killed include Mir Gulab, a local commander of Taliban.

“Six Taliban and four Daesh militants also sustained injuries in the gun battle.” Khaama press quoted Mashriqiwal as saying.

According to the police spokesperson, two fighters of Taliban group have been taken into custody by Daesh.

The militant groups themselves have not yet commented on the report. However, Nangarhar has become a battle ground for them where they have announced ‘Jihad’ against each other.

Thousands of militants, most of them loyal to Taliban and Daesh, have been stationed in Nangarhar where they occasionally among themselves.
