Polio vaccination team members terrorized in Kunduz

Some members of polio vaccination team were terrorized in three separate security incidents in Kunduz.

Sources in the province told Raha News Agency the incidents took place in Buzkashi field, in Chartaq area and Imam Saheb city in Kunduz.

The unidentified gunmen ridding motorcycle shot two members of the polio vaccination team in the Buzkashi field and the injured members died after taken to Kunduz area hospital.  

According to the same sources, another incident in Chartaq area left two female polio vaccinators dead: the unknown gunmen opened fire at the vaccinators.

In the third killing event, some other vaccinators were terrorized in Imam Saheb city of Kunduz.

The total death toll of the incidents is reported four-male and three-female vaccinators.

The residents of Kunduz province got shocked following the terror events.

The Islamic Emirate security officials yet to comment on the incidents.

The second round of polio vaccination campaign in which 9 million children aged below-5 would receive vaccine began some days ago.

Afghanistan, Pakistan and Nigeria have hit top in the world in recording polio cases.
