Saudi King’s personal bodyguard shot dead
The authorities in Saudi Arabia have confirmed that General Abdelaziz al-Fagham, the personal bodyguard of King Salman lost his life after sustaining injuries during an altercation.
According to a statement released by Saudi Police, at least seven others also sustained injuries during the shooting which followed an altercation at the home of one of friends of Gen. al-Fagham.
The statement further added that Gen. al-Fagham died on Saturday evening in the western city of Jeddah.
“Fagham was visiting his friend at his home in Jeddah when (an) acquaintance, Mamdouh al-Ali, entered the residence,” the police statement carried by the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said.
Furthermore, the statement said “The conversation between Fagham and Ali escalated… Ali left the home, came back carrying a gun and fired at Fagham, injuring two others in the household, a Filipino worker and brother of the house’s owner.”
The Saudi Press Agency also reported that the security forces shot the assailant dead after he refused to surrender.
