Taliban show willingness to peace talks: High Peace Council
The High Peace Council (HPC) on Friday said that the Taliban has shown willingness to participate in direct talks with the Afghan government.
“After the efforts made by the HPC to bring the Taliban to the table of negotiations and also contact with the group members, they [the Taliban] have shown willingness to talk peace with the Afghan government,” said HPC member Shafiullah Shafi Nursitani.
He said the HPC is optimistic about the results seen after the two rounds of the four nations meeting on the peace talks. Tolo News reported.
“The HPC is optimistic over the quadrilateral meetings on the peace talks and we hope that the sessions set the schedule for face-to-face talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban,” he added.
The third round of the four nations meeting on the peace talks will be held within the next eight days in Islamabad.
