30 April should be marked as day of “Victims of Freedom of Speech”: Nai
An Afghan agency supporting open media-Nai- has proposed the 30th of April should be named as the day of “Victims of Freedom of Speech” to honor the 9 journalists who were killed yesterday in a brutal suicide attack in Kabul.
Nai supporting Afghan open media said in a statement on Tuesday it has proposed to the government that the 30th of April should be named as the day of “victims of freedom of speech” to honor the 9 journalists who were killed among more than 15 others in a ISIS-claimed suicide attack on Monday in Shash-Dara area of Kabul city.
Calling Monday’s attack as unprecedented, Nai has also said the government should consider a roadmap through which a pension be paid to the families of yesterday’s journalists victims and to the other 80 Afghan journalists who were killed before.
It also furthered media owners should help with the security of their employees and the journalists should also know that the news coverage shall not worth to the cost of their own lives.
A suicide bomber who disguised himself as a journalist struck among journalists who came at the site for the news coverage of an earlier bomb explosion in Shash Darak area of Kabul city.
