Taliban appoint new chief for Afghan Film Directorate

Dr. Saahra Karimi the ex-chief for the directorate said on her official Facebook page that the Taliban has introduced Molavi Javid as the new chief for Afghan Film Directorate.

Taliban itself has not given any details regarding this new appointment nor Saahra Karimi did reveal details on who the new chief is or what experiences he has in cinema industry.

Taliban showed a very strict viewpoint toward cinema in their previous rule on Afghanistan, when they set fire all the archives of the Afghan Film Directorate.

Cinema and filmmaking was banned and even photography was not allowed in that time.

Saahra Karimi is a PHD graduate in feature film directing from Bratislava University of Slovakia.
