Missile explosion left 7 wounded in Helmand

Provincial officials of Helmand province said that an explosion wounded seven members of a family including children in the Marja district of the province.

The officials said that blast took place in Dasht residence of the district Friday afternoon, March 12, 2022

Local residents have said that the explosion was due to an unexploded missile that exploded inside the house of the family.

Deputy Head of the directorate of information and culture of Helmand province Muhammad Qasim Riaz told media that, seven members of the family- father, mother, and their five children were wounded in the incident.

Riaz added that those wounded have been taken to hospitals.

Unexploded missiles and bullets that are left in residents and houses of people for decades usually kill and wound people among the women and schools children.

It is also worth mentioning that tens of kilometers of land are yet to be cleared of land mines across Afghanistan.
